What Energy Coaches Offer

Energy coaches are trained volunteers who help Camden and Rockport residents navigate how to lower energy costs and make their homes warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Visiting your home in pairs, they can help you

  • Prioritize projects and find answers to energy-related questions
  • Identify potential contractors and compare estimates
  • Access rebates and services you’re eligible for
  • Plan how to manage in power outages
  • Insulation and air sealing
  • Heat Pumps
  • Heat pump water heaters
  • Solar power and batteries
  • State energy assistance programs and Efficiency Maine incentives

If you’re a year-round resident of Rockport or Camden,

  • you can request a free home consultation
  • or simply email the program with questions related to home energy use

The coaching services are focused on those who have an annual Adjusted Gross Income under $100,000 (if married and filing taxes jointly) or under $70,000 (if filing singly). Households that qualify for a State program such as MaineCare, HEAP, SNAP or TANF can receive extra funding support to cover home efficiency upgrades.

Join the next cohort of energy coaches

Coaches undergo an extensive initial training to serve in this volunteer role, and receive ongoing support and training. They typically commit to 6-8 hours a month spent in trainings, home visits and follow-up. If you’re interested in joining the next cohort of coaches (training will likely start in Fall 2026), please email energyprogram@rockportmaine.gov.
